Shield Login/Power

Sign out of the admin console, or restart / power off your Shield safely.

Sign out of the admin console on this browser. You'll return to the sign-in page.

Reboot Restarts your Shield. Filtering and local services are briefly unavailable, then come back automatically. Your settings and files are kept.

Admin Password

Update the ‘wombat’ password used to access your Shield, including admin login and local services like SMB, Time Machine, and Jellyfin. Your Wi-Fi password is managed separately.

Change password Changes the wombat password for admin login and local services (SMB, Time Machine, Jellyfin). You may need to sign in again. Your Wi-Fi password is separate.

Account recovery

Create a one-time recovery code so you can get back in if you ever forget your admin password. It is shown only once - store it offline, away from the device and your kids.

Apply software updates from WOMBATS.

Network Reset for Changing ISP/Modem

Use this when you switch modem or internet provider.

  • Run setup again after the reset.
  • Keep your Shield and modem powered on and connected during the reset.
  • If you are starting fresh, reset your modem/router as well before setup.
Reset network setup Clears network setup so you can connect a new modem/ISP, then returns the Shield to setup. Your files on the Vault are not erased. You'll run setup again afterward.

This clears network setup so your Shield is ready to be set up again.

To confirm, type RESET

Factory Reset

Restore your Shield to factory state and remove current setup.

  • Do not unplug power while the restore is running.
  • If you are starting fresh, reset your modem/router as well before setup.
Restore factory state Reboots and restores the Shield to factory state, removing current setup. This cannot be undone. Your data on the Vault is preserved; setup must be run again.

This restarts your Shield and begins the restore.
