DLNA media server
Applies to Shield Edge & Vault
DLNA lets a compatible TV, media box, game console, or app browse your media over your local network — no app install, no account. It's the simplest way to get your library onto the living-room TV.

- Videos — movies and video files for compatible players.
- Music — audio files.
- Photos — pictures and images to browse.
How to use DLNA
- Open your TV or media device's local-media browser.
- Look for a section labelled Media Server, DLNA, Home Network, or Network Media.
- Select the WOMBATS server when it appears.
- Browse and play — videos, music, and photos appear once connected.
Troubleshooting
- Make sure the device is on the same local network as Shield.
- Give discovery a few seconds — some devices take time to refresh their list.
- Restart the media app or TV browser if the server doesn't appear, so it does a fresh scan.
Tips & troubleshooting
- DLNA is best for simple TV browsing; use Jellyfin when you want posters and a richer interface.
- If the server won't appear, a network mismatch is the usual cause — confirm the TV is on your home network.
