Plain-language terms for WOMBATS Shield purchases.
This page sets out the basic terms of sale for WOMBATS Shield. It is written in plain English and is not a substitute for legal advice. Australian Consumer Law applies to consumer purchases and is not limited by anything below.
Trading entity
WOMBATS Shield is a registered business name of Ausbotics Pty Ltd (ABN 24 655 781 150), an Australian proprietary company. “WOMBATS Shield” is a trademark approved by IP Australia. Your order and payment are with Ausbotics Pty Ltd, trading as WOMBATS Shield. Registered office: 50 Berry Street, North Sydney NSW 2060.
Imagery & visual representation
Photographs of WOMBATS Shield used across this website are illustrative lifestyle imagery, not literal product specifications. To keep these scenes calm and uncluttered, the following compositional choices have been made:
- The Shield device is shown without its power cable in most home and desk scenes, and without its Ethernet cable in travel scenes. In actual operation, Shield is powered via its included USB‑C power supply and connects to your network via Ethernet.
- The Shield device may appear at a slightly larger size relative to surrounding objects than it would in a real photograph, so the appliance remains visible in the composition. The actual physical dimensions are documented in the product specifications.
- UI shown on screens within these photographs (dashboards, charts, backup progress and similar) is representative and may not reflect the exact, current production interface.
- Some lifestyle scenes depict a stylised representation of the Shield enclosure. The production enclosure is shown in the unboxing photographs on the homepage.
None of these compositional choices change what Shield actually does or how it is delivered. They exist only to keep the photography readable and on‑brand.
Founding-edition ordering
WOMBATS Shield is sold through the WOMBATS Shield website while the Founding Edition is open. The first 20 Shields are reserved for founding members at the founding price. Once the founding batch is full, the standard price applies to later batches, beginning at unit 61.
Scope of the founding price lock. Founding members — the first 20 numbered Shields — keep founding-level pricing for life on anything WOMBATS sells them in future, for as long as we exist. Orders after unit 20 are charged the listed price at the time of the order and do not carry a price lock.
Pricing & currency
Prices on the website are shown in Australian dollars unless otherwise indicated. The founding price displayed at checkout is the single price you pay; nothing is added but shipping. The standard prices that apply from unit 61 are $599 for Core, $689 for Edge and $939 for Vault — stated in advance so founding buyers know what the price becomes, not shown as a discount against a price never charged.
Payment & checkout
Payments are processed through Stripe Checkout. We don't see or store your card details. Stripe sends a payment confirmation by email after checkout completes.
Dispatch, shipping & GST
Founding-edition Shields are hand‑built and dispatched from Australia in batches. Target dispatch: within 2 weeks of order. We'll email you a dispatch confirmation when your Shield ships. Delivery times after dispatch depend on your location and the courier's working days.
Free dispatch within Australia and New Zealand for the founding batch. Stripe shows a $0.00 shipping line at checkout for AU and NZ addresses.
International shipping is available to NZ, SG, HK, JP, GB, IE, US and CA via Express courier. A flat international rate is added at checkout. If your country isn't listed, email us and we'll see what we can do.
GST. Prices displayed on this website are in Australian dollars and inclusive of 10% GST for Australian customers. A tax invoice is issued automatically by Stripe after a successful order. International orders are GST-exclusive in effect (the same displayed price is charged but no Australian GST applies on exports), and you may be liable for duties or local taxes on arrival depending on your country's rules.
Shield Vault SSD upgrades
Shield Vault ships with a 256 GB encrypted internal SSD. Optional 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB capacity upgrades are quoted at fulfilment: during the founding batch, we confirm your chosen size and its price by email after your initial order, so we can build each Vault to spec.
Warranty & returns
Each Shield is covered by a 12‑month hardware warranty (covering the Shield and its power supply) from delivery, alongside the consumer guarantees in Australian Consumer Law. For households in Australia and New Zealand we offer a 30‑day home trial: use Shield on your own network, and if it isn't right for your home, return it with the prepaid label we provide for a full refund. The trial applies to consumer orders delivered to residential addresses; business orders and international orders (unopened only) sit outside it. Conditions — including one trial per household and the tamper seal on the case remaining intact — are on the refund & warranty page. Nothing in the trial limits your ACL rights.
Product limitations
Shield is a network‑level appliance that filters at the DNS layer. VPNs and encrypted DNS on a determined managed device may bypass local policy; devices outside the managed network are outside Shield's scope. The full picture is on the threat model page.
Australian Consumer Law
For consumer purchases, the Australian Consumer Law gives you statutory guarantees about the quality, fitness for purpose and matching description of the product. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a non‑excludable consumer guarantee.
