WOMBATS Shield
Terms of sale

Plain-language terms for WOMBATS Shield purchases.

This page sets out the basic terms of sale for WOMBATS Shield. It is written in plain English and is not a substitute for legal advice. Australian Consumer Law applies to consumer purchases and is not limited by anything below.

Trading entity

WOMBATS Shield is a registered Australian business name. “WOMBATS Shield” is a trademark approved by IP Australia. Orders placed through this website are with the WOMBATS Shield trading entity.

Imagery & visual representation

Photographs of WOMBATS Shield used across this website are illustrative lifestyle imagery, not literal product specifications. To keep these scenes calm and uncluttered, the following compositional choices have been made:

  • The Shield device is shown without its power cable in most home and desk scenes, and without its Ethernet cable in travel scenes. In actual operation, Shield is powered via its included USB‑C power supply and connects to your network via Ethernet.
  • The Shield device may appear at a slightly larger size relative to surrounding objects than it would in a real photograph, so the appliance remains visible in the composition. The actual physical dimensions are documented in the product specifications.
  • UI shown on screens within these photographs (dashboards, charts, backup progress and similar) is representative and may not reflect the exact, current production interface.

None of these compositional choices change what Shield actually does or how it is delivered. They exist only to keep the photography readable and on‑brand.

Founding-edition ordering

WOMBATS Shield is sold through the WOMBATS Shield website while the Founding Edition is open. The first 20 Shields are reserved for founding members at the founding price, locked in for life across our line. Once the founding batch is full, RRP applies to subsequent batches.

Pricing & currency

Prices on the website are shown in Australian dollars unless otherwise indicated. The founding price displayed at checkout is the price you pay; RRP shown for comparison reflects the price for non‑founding orders.

Payment & checkout

Payments are processed through Stripe Checkout. We don't see or store your card details. Stripe sends a payment confirmation by email after checkout completes.

Dispatch, shipping & GST

Founding-edition Shields are hand‑built and dispatched from Australia in batches. We'll email you a dispatch confirmation when your Shield ships. Delivery times depend on your location and the courier's working days.

Free dispatch within Australia and New Zealand for the founding batch. Stripe shows a $0.00 shipping line at checkout for AU and NZ addresses.

International shipping is available to NZ, SG, HK, JP, GB, IE, US and CA via Express courier. A flat international rate is added at checkout. If your country isn't listed, email us and we'll see what we can do.

GST. Prices displayed on this website are in Australian dollars and inclusive of 10% GST for Australian customers. A tax invoice is issued automatically by Stripe after a successful order. International orders are GST-exclusive in effect (the same displayed price is charged but no Australian GST applies on exports), and you may be liable for duties or local taxes on arrival depending on your country's rules.

Shield Vault SSD upgrades

Shield Vault ships with a 256 GB encrypted internal SSD. Optional 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB upgrades are available. During the founding batch, SSD upgrades are confirmed by email after your initial order, so we can build each Vault to spec.

Warranty & returns

Each Shield is covered by a 24‑month hardware warranty from delivery, alongside the consumer guarantees in Australian Consumer Law. We offer a 30‑day change‑of‑mind return window for unopened or as‑shipped Shields. The full policy is on the refund & warranty page.

Product limitations

Shield is a network‑level appliance that filters at the DNS layer. VPNs and encrypted DNS on a determined managed device may bypass local policy; devices outside the managed network are outside Shield's scope. The full picture is on the threat model page.

Australian Consumer Law

For consumer purchases, the Australian Consumer Law gives you statutory guarantees about the quality, fitness for purpose and matching description of the product. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a non‑excludable consumer guarantee.
