Storage & disks
Applies to Shield Edge & Vault
The Storage page (shown as 'Vault' in the menu) is where you see your disks, confirm that storage services are running, and carry out disk operations. Shield Edge uses a connected USB disk; Shield Vault adds a built-in encrypted SSD.

The top of the page shows Total Capacity and how it's used — User files, Time Machine, System, and Free space.
System Disks & Services
System Disks shows your storage disk and OS disk, including device type and encryption status. System Services confirms the Shield Server, Web Server, SMB Server, Jellyfin, and DLNA are running.
Connecting external storage (Edge)
On Shield Edge, connect one supported external USB disk to make storage available, then press Mount Disk. Use Unmount Disk before unplugging it.
Disk operations
- Recycle Bin — review and recover deleted files.
- Clear OS Temp Files — free up system space.
- Format Disk and Delete Time Machine Backups are destructive — you'll be asked to type the action word before continuing.
Tips & troubleshooting
- Always Unmount an external disk before physically removing it.
- Destructive actions ask you to type a confirmation word on purpose — read the prompt before continuing.
- On Vault, see the encrypted-Vault guide for the passphrase and recovery key.
