Setting up your Shield

• Plug Shield into power and connect it to your modem with the supplied Ethernet cable.
• Have your modem's admin login ready — the gateway/admin login printed on the modem or its label. This is not your Wi-Fi name and password.
• Keep Shield and your modem powered on and connected throughout.

Open the setup page in a browser, choose your modem from the list, and enter the modem admin username and password. Press Auto Setup — the wizard configures the network automatically, usually in 2 to 4 minutes, with no further input.

The username is optional — leave it blank if your modem doesn't use one. If you're unsure where to find these details, open the modem help photos on the setup page; they show where the admin login lives for your model.

Some modems briefly disconnect while they apply the new settings. If that happens, reconnect your device to your usual home Wi-Fi (the same network as your modem), then press Resume. Setup carries on from where it left off.

• Guided Setup walks you through the steps manually if Auto Setup doesn't suit your modem.
• Smart Resume continues from the last safe checkpoint without repeating completed work.
• Start Fresh clears the current setup, returns Shield to a clean baseline, then powers off for a modem handoff.
